Thai Cave Rescue: Two Years Later
The two year anniversary of the Thai-led, multi-national operation to rescue the Wild Boar youth football team from Tham Luang cave park was remembered recently. The rescue happened July 8-10 2018 and involved a highly organized and synchronized effort involving critical coordination with multiple governments, international companies and foreign non-government agencies.
SECDEF witnesses transformation, protection of citizens becoming Airmen at BMT during COVID-19
U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper visited U.S. Air Force basic military training cadre and recruits, as well as members of the Air Force Recruiting Service, for a first-hand look at how the service transforms citizens into American Airmen here June 16, 2020. Esper, accompanied on the visit by the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Ramón Colón-López, observed how the 37th Training Wing, with the support of a tri-wing partnership with the 502nd Air Base Wing and 59th Medical Wing, has protected Airmen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senate confirms Brown to be 22nd Air Force Chief of Staff on unanimous vote
The U.S. Senate confirmed Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., June 9 to be the 22nd Air Force Chief of Staff, clearing the way for the decorated pilot and experienced commander to become the first African-American in history to lead a branch of the U.S. military as its highest-ranking officer.
Air Force SERE modernizes training
The 336th Training Group at Fairchild AFB, Washington, is streamlining Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape training with several possible permanent changes to modernize training which have been under review but are being expedited because of COVID-19.
Air Force creates new AFSC for Special Warfare officers
Effective April 30, special tactics, tactical air control party and combat rescue officers will transition from the command and control AFSC, 13XX, to the new AFSPECWAR officer AFSC, 19ZXX.
2nd Air Force Command Chief guest hosts Airmanship 200
The senior enlisted leader of Second Air Force guest-hosted the newly established Airmanship 200 livestream with a Special Warfare Training Support Squadron military training leader Apr. 28 to discuss the topic of identity. The livestream was created in an effort to continue to meet mission requirements for Airmen in tech training during COVID-19.
