For some, prayer seems daunting because they are unsure how to pray “well”.

One of the means by which we develop the soul is through spiritual disciplines. What are spiritual disciplines? Think of them as weightlifting for your soul. Just as you would go to the gym to lift weights and get stronger, so you can use different spiritual disciplines to strengthen your soul. Over the next series of articles, my intent will be to highlight spiritual disciplines that can be incorporated into your own life, enrich your inner self, and strengthen your character, so that you will be a well-trained, spiritually fit warrior.

  • Chaplain's Corner ~ Awe of the moment

Research shows that when humans experience awe, we become less focused on ourselves and our problems and more in tune to those around us. The wonder we experience when we find ourselves awestruck at canyons, colosseums, mountains or paintings, makes us acutely aware of how small we are, and in turn helps us to be more aware of those around us.
