    The Air Force’s Special Warfare Training Wing has refined its training program for Airmen attempting to enter the Tactical Air Control Party, Special Tactics or Guardian Angel weapons systems, in an effort to create more well-rounded future operators.

  • JBSA-Lackland training annex dedicated to fallen Air Force Medal of Honor recipient

    The Chapman Training Annex was officially renamed during a ceremony March 4, 2020. Previously known as the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Training Annex, it was renamed in honor of Medal of Honor recipient Master Sgt. John A. Chapman, an Air Force combat controller who gave his life fighting in Afghanistan in 2002.
  • Special Tactics MOH recipient honored with Annex renaming

    The Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Medina Training Annex was renamed the Chapman Training Annex in honor of Special Tactics combat controller Master Sgt. John A. Chapman March 4, 2020. The ceremony, held on the 18th anniversary of his death, was attended by family, friends and fellow Airmen. In August 2018, Chapman was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor nation’s highest honor for his selfless actions in Afghanistan during the Battle of Takur Ghar on March 4, 2002 in support of Operation ANACONDA.
  • JBSA training annex to be renamed for fallen MOH recipient; watch live March 4

    With Master Sgt. John A. Chapman’s family, friends and fellow Airmen in attendance, the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex name will officially be unveiled during a ceremony March 4, 2020. U.S. Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Stephen A. Wilson will be the keynote speaker and the ceremony will be streamed live beginning at 10 a.m. central time on the U.S. Air Force Facebook page, as well as on DVIDS.

    Technical Sgt. Michael Perolio, an assessment and selection instructor assigned to the350th Special Warfare Training Squadron at JBSA-Lackland was awarded the nation's third highest medal for his heroic actions in combat during Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
  • Medal of Honor recipient John Chapman memorialized at Pope Army Airfield

    Master Sgt. John Chapman was commemorated during a Medal of Honor dedication at Pope Army Airfield on May 30. A life-size figure of Chapman, a hand-drawn portrait and a replica of his Medal of Honor were unveiled and placed on permanent display at the Benini Heritage Center, a nationally-recognized museum that is part of the 352nd Special Warfare Training Squadron, home of the Combat Control apprentice course.
