Chief Master Sergeant William D. Kelly is the Command Chief, Special Warfare Training Wing, Second Air Force, Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Chapman Training Annex, Texas. He is the principal advisor to the Wing Commander on the effective utilization, professional development, training readiness, and welfare of the wing’s enlisted force. As the Air Force's only Special Warfare Training Wing, their mission focuses on recruitment, assessment, selection, and the training of future ground combat forces. The wing is comprised of a Special Warfare Training Group and Human Performance Support Group totaling seven squadrons and twelve detachments of Special Warfare operators, Combat Mission Support personnel, Human Performance and Operational Medicine specialists serving across eight operating locations.
Chief Kelly was raised in California and entered the Air Force in July of 2002. He has performed a myriad of leadership roles at the squadron, group, wing levels and led both Airmen and Soldiers in a variety of integrated and joint operational positions. He assumed his current position June 2024, and has been stationed at locations in North Dakota, California, Nevada, Montana, Texas and Georgia. Chief Kelly has supported numerous Data Masked organizations and efforts, deployed in support of Operations IRAQU FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, SPARTAN SHIELD and executed security operations spanning 52 countries. Furthermore, Chief Kelly holds qualifications in Security Forces Phoenix Raven, United States Army Basic Airborne, and United States Army Ranger.
