CMSgt Todd Popovic is the Command Chief, Special Warfare Training Wing, Air Education and Training Command, Chapman Training Annex, Texas. He is the principal advisor to the wing commander on the effective utilization, professional development, training readiness, and welfare of the wing’s enlisted force. As the Air Force’s Special Warfare Training Wing, the wing recruits, assesses, selects, and trains ground combat forces that specialize in airpower application to lead and execute global access, precision strike, and personnel recovery operations. The wing is comprised of a Special Warfare Training Group and Human Performance Support Group, totaling seven squadrons of Special Warfare operators, Combat Mission Support personnel, and Human Performance and Operational Medicine specialists.
Chief Popovic enlisted in the Air Force in May 1994, where he served in Security Forces until he was recruited into Pararescue in 1997. Throughout his career, he has worked in leadership positions at the squadron, group, wing, and major command levels. Chief Popovic has served in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Prior to assuming his current position, Chief Popovic served as Group Superintendent, Special Warfare Training Group, Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
